050205-N-8796S-050 Indian Ocean (Feb. 5, 2005) - Medical Director for the intensive care unit of the non-governmental organization "Project Hope", Dr. David M. Systrom, left, and Department Head of Medical Surgical nursing, Lt. Cmdr. Carma Ericksonhurst, stand in front of other medical professionals during a code blue drill aboard the Military Sealift Command (MSC) hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19). The drill allowed military members and "Project Hope" medical personnel an opportunity to work with and learn from one another. Mercy has been forward deployed to assist in humanitarian aid efforts currently in progress. Mercy will serve as an enabling platform to assist humanitarian operations ashore in ways that host nations and international relief organization find useful. Mercy is currently off the waters of Indonesia in support of Operation Unified Assistance the humanitarian relief effort to aid the victims of the tsunami that struck Southeast Asia.
